THE SHORT ANSWER
Start here.
On the PlayStation website, sign in to Account Management, select Subscription from the left-hand menu and select Cancel Subscription next to PlayStation Plus. On a PS5, go to Settings, Users and Accounts, Account, Payment and Subscriptions, Subscriptions, then select the subscription to cancel it. You keep all PlayStation Plus benefits until the end of the period you have already paid for.

FOLLOW THE RIGHT BILLING ROUTE
Cancel PlayStation Plus, step by step.
On the PlayStation website
Account Management is the clearest route and works without a console to hand.
- Sign in to PlayStation Account Management.
- Select Subscription from the menu on the left of the screen.
- Select Cancel Subscription next to PlayStation Plus.
- Complete the confirmation and check the date your benefits run to.
Cancelling automatic renewal has no effect on your current subscription — you keep the benefits already paid for.
On a PS5 console
The console route reaches the same subscription and also shows the next payment date.
- Go to Settings, then Users and Accounts.
- Select Account, then Payment and Subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select the PlayStation Plus subscription from the list.
- Check the next payment date, then cancel the subscription.
Turn off auto-renew instead
If you want to use the rest of the term but not renew, switching off auto-renew is the safer option.
- Sign in to PSN and go to Settings, Account Management, Account Information, PlayStation Subscriptions.
- Select the subscription you want to stop renewing.
- Select Turn Off Auto-Renew.
- Check that the subscription now shows an end date rather than a renewal date.
Before you cancel.
- Note which games in your library came from PlayStation Plus monthly games or the game catalogue — those stop being playable when the subscription lapses.
- Check whether cloud saves you rely on were uploaded through PlayStation Plus storage, and copy anything important to local or USB storage.
- If you bought PlayStation Plus as a prepaid card or code, check whether there is any recurring billing to cancel at all.
What happens next?
- PlayStation says you keep all PlayStation Plus benefits until the end of any previously purchased subscription payment period.
- Games claimed from the monthly line-up or the catalogue become unplayable when the subscription ends, but they return to your library if you subscribe again. Games you bought outright are unaffected.
- Online multiplayer access for titles that require PlayStation Plus stops when the subscription ends.
GOOD TO KNOW
Questions, answered.
Do I keep my PlayStation Plus monthly games after cancelling?
They stay listed in your library but stop being playable once the subscription ends. They become playable again if you re-subscribe. Games you purchased outright are not affected.
Does turning off auto-renew cancel PlayStation Plus immediately?
No. PlayStation states that cancelling automatic renewal has no effect on your current subscription — you keep the benefits until the end of the period you already paid for.
What happens to my cloud saves?
Cloud storage is a PlayStation Plus benefit, so uploaded saves may become inaccessible once the subscription ends. Copy anything you want to keep to console or USB storage before your access date passes.
Can I get a refund on PlayStation Plus?
PlayStation publishes its own refund policy for subscriptions, which depends on your region and how much of the term you have used. Cancelling stops the renewal; it does not automatically refund what you have paid.
I cancelled but PlayStation Plus renewed anyway.
Check whether auto-renew was actually turned off, and whether the charge relates to a different subscription such as a higher PlayStation Plus tier or PlayStation Now legacy plan. The Subscription section of Account Management shows every active subscription on the account.
